You really have to hock up a loogie when saying that first part.
Random neurons fired and made me remember the random obnoxious folk that would interject each time you mentioned Bahrain without the Arabic pronunciation.
But that just got me thinking: whilst playing through Assassin's Creed: Mirage, the character of Basim speaks with an Arabic accent.
Which turns out is unsurprising because the voice actor that plays Basim is, himself, of that particular ethnicity.
At least in part.
Anyway.
When he refers to Baghdad, he pronounces it as you'd expect.
With the loogie inflection.
So why is Bahrain not spelled Baghrain if they want the appropriate pronunciation?
Ugh.
Dafuq, brain.
