Today started off with such promise.

Now I'm concerned.

Cautiously optimistic I'll prevail, but...

Man.

Woke up at 0150—well ahead of my 0300 alarm.

Decided it was time to start the day.

Felt refreshed. Great.

Got the pups outside for their morning business and then got on the road at 0350 to top off Ghost's tank.

Then got underway.

It was at the Holland/Dam Neck intersection that things got shitty.

Cars waiting to make the turn.

There's almost never any traffic this early. Not in the six months I've been making this commute.

As I proceeded down Dam Neck, there was even more traffic.

And they were all going slow.

No matter: I'll just pass them and...

They're speeding up.

What the fuck.

So I just sped up even more.

Because eventually, even the trolliest of trolls will take a knee in the interest of not recklessly driving.

But the closer I got to my destination, the worse it got.

There was a white BMW that decided they absolutely needed to be in front of me.

And matched my pace exactly.

And I hate when people do that.

So.

I took my foot off the gas.

And since there was no other traffic on the road, coasted down to a leisurely 35 MPH.

And so did they.

They stuck in the right lane right up until they were forced to merge left.

And then they proceeded to go exactly where I was going.

Exactly.

Got close to where I normally park, and watched as they leisurely backed into the spot I normally park.

Fuck it, I thought. I'll just circle the building to avoid any necessary social interaction and park at the end.

But by the time I'd circled the building...

They were gone.

Man.

What the fuck.

Anyway.

Short day today.

Still trying to decide whether to use my early departure time as reason to get a haircut.

Prolly will.

Squidge my departure time to the left by an hour to avoid the lunch rush.

Yeah.

And Hangry Joe's for dinner.

Happy Friday, y'all.

Fuck's sake.
