I'm pretty damn legit.
Two specific bits of programming ended up coming and kicking me square in the gut yesterday:
"Finish your plate." - Childhood
"Hurry the fuck up!" - Boot camp
To be fair, that second one is also amplified by my desire to "eat this thing while it's still at its most delicious".
Ended up overestimating my ability to comfortably finish a teriyaki chicken bowl that I'd made.
And though I felt okay in the short term, I regret it within about half an hour.
...For the next two hours.
Started gyrating like a snake trying to slither their way outta some old skin.
Except I don't have that luxury.
Coworkers were sympathetic and I left.
Got home, sprawled out, and felt better.
So.
One of the other minor things I find frustrating about work—or more specifically, one of the UI/UX decisions the department made—is that instead of just using the tooltip functionality that's built into standard HTML, we use this weird... question mark... bubble... clicky... thing.
You click the question mark bubble and a modal pops up.
Whereas standard tooltips is legitimately just title="Your tooltip goes here. In a single line of code."
.
Now granted, the modals offer a bit more flexibility in what you can display.
I get that.
But one doesn't have to preclude the others.
You can use fancy shmancy modals along with tooltips.
Save yourself time, enhance the experience for the end user just that tiny bit more.
But...
Meh.
It's Tuesday.
One day closer to Friday, which is good.
Dental appointment tomorrow, which is... a thing.
Finishing up that Barry show, which I have to admit got to be a bit of a slog because it became really formulaic really quickly.
Like... watching House, and the team constantly ends up diagnosing a patient with sarcoidosis or lupus.
And then it ends up being something else.
Don't get me wrong: it can be surprising how the events actually trigger in Barry, but the events themselves... not so much.
Alright.
On with the day, I guess.
